Welcome to The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre

The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre is a registered charity based in a purpose built building at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport on the Isle of Wight. Money raised by the staff, Island individuals and organisations funded the building of the Centre in 1995.

The Centre is overseen by a board of Trustees and the Patron of our charity, Professor Stephen Holgate, MRC Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology at the University of Southampton.

Research

With an active research programme focusing on various aspects of childhood asthma and other allergic diseases as well as the prevention of allergy, The David Hide Centre has become internationally renowned for the excellence of its research. Findings published over the last two decades have been of fundamental importance in promoting the understanding of childhood asthma.

Clinical

The David Hide Centre also houses the Isle of Wight NHS allergy service. This provides a multidisciplinary paediatric and adult allergy service. There is a close relationship between the research and clinical aspects of the Centre.
