Efficacy of Altoderm for the Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis in Children

Altoderm is a new topical formulation of sodium cromoglycate developed by Thornton & Ross Ltd. The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre participated in the clinical testing of this new agent.

Children with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis were enrolled in a randomised double-blind, placebo-controlled study of Altoderm.

The study is now complete and the results, showing a clinically useful benefit of the sodium cromoglycate lotion in children with moderately severe atopic dermatitis, were published in the British Journal of Dermatology.
